Evaluation
An independent academic research team – The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) and partners – is conducting a two year study to assess how polyclinics and systems have met the goals of:
- Improving access to primary care services
- Achieving value for money
- Improving clinical quality
- Improving patient experience while developing a sound evidence base
The evaluation looks at local environments in each polysystem, focusing on clinical leadership and commissioning and patient and public involvement. The study provides real time feedback to inform future commissioning decisions.
We are working with the following PCTs and trusts during this evaluation:
- Fulham Centre for Health and Hammersmith Centre for Health, NHS Hammersmith and Fulham
- Loxford Polyclinic, NHS Redbridge
- Gracefield Gardens Health and Social Care Centre, NHS Lambeth
- Alexandra Avenue Polyclinic Health and Social Care Centre, NHS Harrow
- St Charles, NHS Kensington and Chelsea and NHS Westminster
- Oliver Road, NHS Waltham Forest
- Hornsey Neighborhood Centre, NHS Haringey
To ensure that the evaluation is aligned with the Government’s Health and Social Bill, the study also focuses on the impact on the system since polysystems have opened to see if access points have changed or increased. The evaluation has a specific case study outline for each site that focuses on either organisational or service issues whilst providing insight to patient engagement and GP commissioning.
The evaluation is due for completion in February 2012.
