Provider workshops
In early March 2011, the implementation team held a series of provider workshops to develop the integrated cancer system model. The workshops were well attended and some very helpful and thought-provoking discussion was had. A summary of the discussions will be available shortly.
Commissioner workshops
A commissioning workshop was held on 5 April 2011. It was well-attended by existing commissioners and GPs, who took part in lively and engaged discussions. The workshop concluded that there was an opportunity to build on the good work already carried out by commissioners and existing cancer networks to change the way that cancer services are commissioned. There was an acknowledgement of the scale and importance of the task and in response, the implementation team will set up a commissioning development workstream.
