Patient engagement

Engaging with patient and public representatives is key to developing services that meet the needs of the people using them.

We wanted to ensure that patients were able to get involved with our proposals, despite the large geographical area, and feel comfortable about expressing their views. To help us achieve this, Changing Faces, a disfigurement charity, led the public and patient engagement element of this project. Henrietta Spalding from Changing Faces also sat on the project’s steering group.

Feedback from patients has highlighted the differences in the care provided at current services and which areas could be improved.

We held engagement events for patients in London (November 2010) and Aylesbury (January 2011).
