Engagement
To ensure that the case for change and model of care has been informed by those involved in the delivery of specialised burn services, and that future specialised burn services meets the needs of the patients with burn injuries, we have engaged with a wide range of representatives in the development of both the case for change and recommendations made by the model of care. In addition to our engagement with clinicians and patients, we have also sought the views of families and carers, patient groups, third sector organisations and existing service providers.
We ran a series of dedicated patient events and a large stakeholder engagement event to obtain feedback on the case for change and we have distributed regular e-bulletins to a wide group of people.
Briefings for staff at each of the current providers of specialised burn services were held in October 2010 and January/February 2011. These sessions provided an overview of the project’s purpose, process, timescales, work to date and to offer staff the opportunity to answer questions.
The case for change and co-dependencies framework have been led by the clinical expert panel, with input from the wider group of stakeholders. This feedback also contributed to the emerging model of care.
