PoLCE

Our Procedures of Limited Clinical Effectiveness (PoLCE) programme aimed to improve patient outcomes while generating significant savings to the NHS. This project has now been completed and an information pack has been sent to the former steering group members.

Benchmarking analysis

This analysis brought together PoLCE lists from across the country to nationally benchmark London’s providers and commissioners, identifying a range of potential savings. The report was commissioned from Dr Foster Intelligence.

Monitoring reports

We produced monthly monitoring reports at cluster and PCT levels, including some data at general practices level, detailing the numbers and costs of PoLCE undertaken. To access previous reports or for guidance in creating reports, contact a member of the steering group or refer to our guidance on how to produce these reports.

Repository of evidence

We summarised the sources of clinical evidence and guidance for all PoLCE on the Dr Foster Intelligence master list. The iniital evidence repository was updated to include details of the codes used and outlier providers and commissioners. Locally agreed thresholds for procedures where clinical thresholds apply were also summarised.

Steering group

Members of the steering group have received legacy packs containing PoLCE documentation and other useful resources. For further details, please contact your local representative.
