Clinical engagement

Clinical leadership is fundamental to the success of our service design. All of our programmes have a clinical leader as part of the core team, and draw upon a number of other clinical experts in exploring the cases for change and designing the proposed models of care.

Healthcare for London initiated this way of working and formed a Clinical Advisory Group (CAG), comprising 31 leading clinicians from around London with different specialties – from surgeons to general practitioners – who provided input from a clinical perspective into the services we reviewed. The contributions of the CAG have been invaluable for our work and although it has now been disbanded, its role has been delegated to NHS London’s Clinical Senate, a similar body with 120 members that is administered by the SHA.
